Testimonials
“Alison was a very effective tutor in our school and her input was valued by the pupils who made good progress following her interventions.”

“We wanted extra tuition for my daughter in Maths and English as she was falling behind. Alison was always able to engage my daughter’s interest and being special needs this was no easy task. Alison was always open and honest and always supplied good feedback after every weekly lesson. She also went above and beyond and even attended a meeting we had with the school and she always provided sound advice. One of my daughter’s strongest subjects is now Maths.”

We had a great experience with Alison at The Tutoring Barn. She worked with our son for two years to prepare him for his GCSE exams. Alison was fantastic at tailoring the lessons to his needs and challenging him but at the same time building his confidence. She went above and beyond by liaising with his school teachers to support his learning both inside and outside of school.

"Alison was an exceptional tutor during my time in Sixth Form. She provided invaluable support, giving me confidence and preparing me thoroughly for my A-levels. Always going the extra mile, she consistently offered personalised guidance, to address my specific needs. Her 1-on-1 tuition was instrumental in developing my essay-writing skills and setting a strong foundation for my academic growth. Her constant belief in my ability gave me the self-belief needed to secure my place at University. Her support was exceptional as was her deep understanding of the curriculum and relevant course materials, which helped me prepare for my exams and coursework.”

I would like to say that Alison helped my son enormously whilst he was in year 11. He has been diagnosed with dyslexia and also finds it hard to concentrate. Alison supported and taught him in the run up to his mocks and also liaised with the school to secure extra help during the exam period. She showed him a way to work that he was comfortable with. Having the 1:1 tuition meant he felt confident to talk about his struggles with her. Having the extra tuition proved invaluable as due to Covid he did not sit his GCSEs and results were taken from his mocks. I believe that it is Alison’s support and teaching during this time that enabled my son to achieve great results which enabled him to go to his first choice 6th form college. He is now thriving in his second year at a well renowned university. I feel Tom could not have achieved all of this without the help and support of Alison.

“I contacted Alison on receiving my son’s predicted English GCSE results as he had failed both subjects and Alison commenced tutoring my son shortly thereafter. Alison is not only a very professional tutor but is fantastic at managing to find ways of engaging and encouraging pupils whilst also ensuring that they have all the necessary tools to pass the exams. I cannot thank Alison enough - not only did my son achieve much higher passes than anticipated, she gave him the ability and confidence to start believing in himself.”
